Mobile apps can be broadly classified as follows:

• Native Apps - These apps are created for a specific platform (iOS, Android, Windows Phone) using the software development tools and languages supported natively by each of these operating systems.
• HTML5 Apps - These apps are developed using the standard web technologies around today, namely HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. Apps developed in this framework are cross-platform meaning that we have a write-once-run-anywhere approach to mobile development.
• Hybrid Apps - This type of app is a combination of the above and involves the creation of a native container app that makes it possible to embed an HTML5 app within it.
