The Cultural Portal of Cyprus is an initiative of the department of Cultural Services under the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The purpose of the online platform is to digitally record and promote the intellectual and artistic production of Cyprus, thus creating an invaluable tool for research and expert knowledge.

The Portal's archive presents artist profiles, their creative works as well as critical reviews and articles written on these works, and covers the areas of Visual Arts, Cinematography, Music, Literature and Performing Arts.

The aim of the Cultural Portal program is to create a national network of cultural information and the promotion of these creations internationally.

Moreover, this platform will form a communication hub for cooperation with the European Platform "Europeana" for the digitisation of cultural heritage on a pan-European level.

The primary guidelines for the creation of the Portal are the collection, enrichment, development and presentation of reliable information in all spheres of cultural creation.

The initial content for the portal is provided by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture, who provides the information and material from their own records on writers, musicians, visual and other artists.

In a subsequent step the Portal will be connected with other cultural information bodies which hold large volumes of culture information, from all geographical areas of Cyprus, thus creating a national network.

A specialised Artists Portal has also been developed to allow independent artists to create their own account, and submit their profile and creative works directly to the platform.
