The Universal Windows Platform (UWP) makes bringing a single app to the entire Windows device family possible.

It essentially provides a common app platform for every device that runs Windows 10 including desktop, tablet, mobile, Xbox and IoT devices.

This means that you can create a single app and use the Windows Store as a unified distribution channel to reach all the device types you want your app to run on.

A Universal Windows app allows you to take advantage of the unique capabilities of each device. Your app can make use of all of the power of a desktop device, the natural interaction on a tablet (including touch and pen input), and the portability and convenience of mobile devices.

Apps can even be created to allow interaction using Cortana and Speech.
